Counting the days like water

My latest body of work examines the relationship between the individual and the cultural norms and systems we’ve inherited or created, especially as a woman in American society. The history of language and context in which we all swim is vast, convoluted and terribly messy. “Counting the Days like water” refers to the ever-enduring hope for change in our societal systems. Images of domestic objects fade in and out of the composition, while illegible type is embedded into the surface, forming letters, but not words. The foundation is stable yet faltering, solid yet changeable.
Encased within the layers of this piece are printed tissue, screenprinted images and intaglio marks created a depth of surface and color.
