There is never a last bloom of the season
Acrylic and mediums on cradled wood
10×10 in (25x25cm) .75in cradle
I love the garden, but occasionally (ok, much of the time) it can be overwhelming. So much to prune and weed and fertilize and make sure you don’t actually pull a non-weed. By mid-August I am pretty much a mess, and I give up and let it go wild. What never ceases to amaze me is how long and how beautiful it grows without my intervention. The plants don’t need me; they know what to do, and they do it fantastically. Every time I think it’s done for the season, I will find a new little bud hiding under a leaf, or a splash of color from a bloom in an unexpected place. And just when I think there is no color, shoots of green break through the soil and start it all over again. It never stops blooming and growing and changing. This little painting is that – a flower-like form of changing autumnal colors, ever blooming – reminding that growth is always happening.
This painting is wired and ready to hang with unfinished wood edge.
