Sorrow you are too impatient
Oil paint and waxes on cradled wood panel
From the series One Thousand Strengths, this piece is very subtle in it’s colors. Overlapping circles cut horizontal stripes into forms and layers.
The wax surface is full of texture and has a natural softness to it. I use pharmaceutical grade beeswax combined with some resins to create a wax which paints on at about 140 degrees. Oil paint is sandwiched between the layers, fused with heat, to create beautifully deep wells of color, even when the paintings are lighter. Wax paintings should not be hung in hot areas or direct strong sunlight. Also, don’t leave it in your car.
