Woodblock Monoprint
Mulberry paper mounted on cradled wood panel
3x6x.6 inches

Each one of a kind monoprint is created on mulberry paper from overlapping wood plates. The paper is then mounted onto wood panels using acid-free rice starch glue. I carefully wrap the print around the edges creating a block of color which hangs on your wall. The textures and imperfections of the paper and wood are maintained so there may be areas where fibers or woodgrain can be seen through the thin paper. Over time the plates carry a patina as ink settles into the grain, creating subtle differences each time a plate is printed. It’s part of the reason I love making these. Each print is always surprising in it’s interactions and shifts. Most are printed by hand with a marble barren, the smaller prints are printed on my press.

Panels are not wired so that you can hang them in any direction you like. The deep cradle holds nicely on a hook or nail, or you can add a wire once you decide how you’d like to hang it. You can even try them hanging as a diamond.

Please note: To maintain the texture and beauty of the paper, the prints are not sealed. Please don’t hang them in the bathroom or any steamy situation. Paper, ink and glue are archival. Every effort is made to capture the color correctly, however I can’t account for differences of screen setting and device.
