I am always struck by what we say to our children as they leave to the house for the day. What do those last words do to impact their day? Their identity? Their perspective on those around them? All too often we don’t think of the impacts of our words and that over time the inconsequential builds into foundation. This painting is layered with the title words, the words most often said especially to girls, as parting words. The lines of the words muddle into the background as rich bright reds come forward defying the patterns below.
