Tiny paintings for everyone!

So, many years ago I was having a rough time. I found myself discouraged by what I saw around me each day. I felt that slowly and persistently the world was beating me down as I walked about in my daily life. At this point of time I also owned a beautiful blue wool coat, one of those full length ones that looked very professional. Except perhaps for the fact that it was robin’s egg blue. At any rate this very professional coat had a secret pocket on the inside left, much like all professional looking coats do. I was a bit unsure as to what to put in this pocket but I decided that the one thing that really refreshed my soul was art. So I painted a tiny painting and placed it in that pocket.

The very first day I had the painting in my pocket I felt like a new person. No one else knew it was there, no else would have really cared either. But I knew; I knew I had beauty accompanying me as I worked and played and grocery shopped and whatever. It changed my whole demeanor. I became aware of more of the beauty that surrounded me. The presence of something precious and out of the ordinary made each ordinary interaction something of value. I was changed by something as simple as pocketful of art.

Thus, pocket paintings came about.

Now, I don’t mind if you hang you painting on the wall instead of carrying it around with you. Surrounding yourself in art – in things which are made by our hands and minds and souls – will change you nonetheless. Whether it is in your pocket or on your shelf. I do, however highly recommend trying it at least once.

Pocket paintings are a fun way to collect original artwork and a fun way for me to make something everyday. Each painting is an original piece painted on wood ranging in size from 3″ to 5″ and anywhere in between. And shipping on Pocket Painting is always free within the continental US, so that’s nice too.
